How It Happens!

Malachi wrote (2:17)
You have wearied the Lord with your words.
Yet you say, "How have we wearied Him?" In that you say,
"Everyone who does evil is good in the sight of the Lord,
and He delights in them . . ."
~~~~~~
It doesn't happen in one giant step;
it is accomplished by taking five smaller steps.
Step 1: Desire to do wrong.
Step 2: Begin to wish that it was not wrong.
Step 3: Begin to doubt that it is wrong.
Step 4: Begin to imagine that it is wrong only in particular
circumstances.
Step 5: Then "find out" (determine) that this is not one of the
particular circumstances.
Thus the door is open to do wrong, under the delusion that it is good.
Isaiah also spoke of such self-deception: 5:20-23
Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil;
Who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness;
Who substitute bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes,
And clever in their own sight!
Woe to those who are heroes in drinking wine,
And valiant men in mixing strong drink;
Who justify the wicked for a bribe,
And take away the rights of the
ones who are in the right!
