Thursday's Thought A Weekly Inspirational Message "Something to help you through the remainder of the week." |
Thursday, June 22, 2006 Two Out of Three There is a saying, "Two out of three isn't bad." In some instances this may be true, but not in others! Especially when it involves "going to heaven." The Bible contains (1) facts to believe, (2) commands to obey, as well as (3) promises to cherish. BELIEVE IN JESUS We must believe the facts concerning Jesus as the Son of God who came in the flesh, born of a virgin, lived among men, was crucified, then resurrected and ascended back to heaven where He reigns with all authority and power. Believe all the facts, not just some. By common confession, great is the mystery of godliness: He who was revealed in the flesh, Was vindicated in the Spirit, Seen by angels, Proclaimed among the nations, Believed on in the world, Taken up in glory. 1 Timothy 3:16
OBEY HIS COMMANDS We must be true believers who lovingly desire to obey His commandments. We cannot pick and chose which ones we will obey and which ones we will ignore. Obey all His commandments, not just some. "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you . . ." Matthew 28:19-20 CHERISH HIS PROMISES We must lay hold of the promise of eternal life which gives us hope, a hope that will not disappoint. "Going to heaven" is easy to accept. But without the other two, it’s just wishful thinking. And having been made perfect, He became to all those who obey Him the source of eternal salvation. Hebrews 5:9 Two out of three IS bad! |
