Powerless Words

Below are some popular sayings that give hope, albeit false hope, because they are powerless. They clearly contradict the Holy Scriptures, which alone is the power unto salvation.

"There are many roads that lead to heaven."

Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.”

John 14:6

"Just be good and God will save you."

For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.

Ephesians 2:8-9

"It doesn't matter what you believe, just as long as you are sincere."

"Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for unless you believe that I [Jesus] am He, you will die in your sins."

John 8:24

"Say this little prayer and you will be saved."

"Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

Matthew 28:19-20
