B.Y.O.R.

(Bring Your Own Religion)

A church advertises “we’re spiritual, not religious.” They believe: There is one God, called by many different names and found through many different paths . . . All sacred scriptures, when understood mystically and metaphysically, reveal the path to spiritual maturity and enlightenment ... like spokes on a wheel, they all lead to the hub (God). You do not have to subscribe to any set of beliefs, everyone brings their own beliefs. This concept (B.Y.O.R.) has appeal to some. However:

PERSONAL BELIEF

--is subjective, not objective.

--is based on one’s own thinking—an unreliable foundation.

--relies one’s own spirituality to save them—a very impotent force.

However, personal faith based on Jesus (who has power over death)

is a sure foundation and support.

For no man can lay a foundation other than the one which is laid,

which is Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 3:11

"And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven

that has been given among men by which we must be saved."

Acts 4:12

Put your faith, hope, and trust in the only begotten Son of God: Jesus.

Rely on the only true source: The Word of God.

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written,

"But the righteous man shall live by faith."

Romans 1:16-17
