Gift Vs. Earn

Gift: Something that is bestowed voluntarily and without compensation.

Earn: To deserve as a result of effort or action.

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is

eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 6:23

What We Learn

   * be careful about demanding what you deserve.

   * be thankful when offered a free gift.

   * be mindful of what you earn from sinning (doing what God forbids).

   * be aware that a free gift must be accepted (it can be refused).

   * be alert to the fact that a free gift can be misused or lost.

   * be diligent to show appreciation for a free gift.

Therefore, since we receive a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us show gratitude, by which we may offer to God an acceptable service with

reverence and awe; for our God is a consuming fire.

Hebrews 12:28-29
