‘You Reap What You Sow’

This common expression is usually used in reference to one suffering for doing wrong. However, it also applies to those who do what is right.

It can be found in Galatians 6:7, "Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap" where it is amplified in verse 8: "For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life."

It is true, when one "sows to his own flesh" (does the deeds of the flesh: immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these) he'll reap corruption.

It is also true when one "sows to the Spirit" (fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control) he'll reap eternal life.

HOW DOES ONE ‘SOW TO THE SPIRIT’?

"So then, while we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, and especially to those who are of the household of the faith." Galatians 6:10

SOWING TO THE SPIRIT: DOING GOOD

Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time

we will reap if we do not grow weary.

Galatians 6:9

But as for you, brethren, do not grow weary of doing good.

2 Thessalonians 3:13

And do not neglect doing good and sharing, for

with such sacrifices God is pleased.

Hebrews 13:16

It is said of Jesus, "…He went about doing good …"

Acts 10:38

ADMONITION

Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit,

let us also walk by the Spirit.

Galatians 5:24-25
