CONTAMINATION

On containers that hold hazardous material there are warning labels: "Do not reuse." They have been contaminated with dangerous substances. Herein is a lesson, one that is addressed in the Holy Scriptures: Dangerous substances can contaminate the heart (or inner man). Such contamination makes one unfit. A partial list of what is hazardous is found in the book of Ephesians:

Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.

Ephesians 4:31-32

A Valuable Lesson

Don't let dangerous thoughts pollute the soul. Remove them!

Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

2 Corinthians 7:1

A Means of Cleansing

While containers of hazardous substances remain contaminated, the heart can be made clean and whole again. It's a matter of removing the harmful contents, being sincerely penitent, asking for forgiveness, and having it cleansed by the blood of Jesus.
